Baby Wheezing and Coughing after cold?
My daughter and I got back from Ohio and because we’re not used to that weather (we’re from Phoenix, AZ) we both got cold, her cold wasn’t very bad and it went away within a week but now she’s coughing and wheezing at night, if I put her in her carseat to sleep or a bouncer she doesn’t wheez much and doesn’t cough as much but because I put her in her bed she wheezes and her nose gets stuffed, so now I use her bouncer until she gets better. My question is, is wheezing and coughing normal when someone has cold or is getting better from cold??? I am little worried, I am gonna make an appointment for her tomorrow but in the mean time what can I do to make the wheezing go away? we’re using a humidifier for the room to help her breath better. Please help, what are the chances of her getting asthma after the cold she had? I know it’s not whooping cough because she doesn’t really cough much and it doesn’t sound like one. But I am afraid of it being asthma…

Weather doesn’t cause colds, viruses do.
“My question is, is wheezing and coughing normal when someone has cold or is getting better from cold???” — No and I don’t believe your daughter has a cold. Not anymore.
“Please help, what are the chances of her getting asthma after the cold she had?” — Asthma is primarily an allergic condition but a virus can trigger asthma symptoms. This is called viral-induced asthma. Or it may be that your daughter has RSV (respiratory syncytial virus). It’s easier for her to breath when she’s upright (this is true for all of us) and this is why you see more pronounced wheezing when she’s lying down and less when she’s sitting up or standing up in her bouncer. Put a cinder block or large books under the head of her bed to elevate it to 30 degrees. The humidifier will help moisturize the air she breathes and loosen and thin respiratory secretions.
