3 year old with chronic cough- please help?
My daughter who is three has had a cough for about 6 weeks now on and off. The doctor suspects she has asthma, so she has a albuterol puffer and zyrtec. She has been on the zyrtec and puffer for 6 weeks. She started off really good for the first few weeks , but now she is bad again. She coughs constly throughout the day. And it gets really bad at night. I took her the doc today and he said her lungs sound fine and no fever, they did check her for whooping cough but the results will not be in for a couple a days. I feel so sad for my baby, she is coughing so hard she is gaging and saying mommy my throat hurts, which the tested for strep and it came out neg. I have tried honey , her bed is propped and has a humidifier. Any other advice would be great. I just wish I could make her feel better.

Try a weak warm tea with honey and lemon.
Make it like regular tea with a tea bag and boiling water, add the honey and lemon, and add a few ice cubes to cool it down and water it down. Don’t add too many ice cubes to make it cold you want it warm still but not so it burns her. Have her sip on the tea.
Make some chicken noodle soup and have her eat that. If she doesn’t like chicken noodle make her any kind of soup, except creamy soups. Some of my favorites are Italian wedding soup, Minestrone, liver dumpling and beef barley. Kinds with lots of broth.
Give her a break on the milk a couple days with out dairy products won’t hurt her. Milk tends to cause phlegm and makes me cough.
Have her drink her juice at room temperature not ice cold and stay away from cold stuff to eat.
I really hope she is feeling better soon.
