How do i get rid of my cold without medicine ? FAST !!?
It started as a stuffed nose and a sore throat. Now i have a deep cough. I have tried orange juice, soup, popsicles. I have also taken some pills for my nose but it only goes away for moments. I have been sick for about 4 days now. I cant talk without my throat hurting. I can not breathe through my nose most of the time. I have a baby cousin to watch and i cant without getting her sick. I don’t know what to do but i don’t have any medicine. I have also took cough drops but they don’t help. I don’t know what else to do. I am tired of being sick and i just need to get better by the tenth. I Any ideas will help besides medicine.

I’ll take your cold, lol. I don’t want to go to school. What makes me feel better when I’m sick is running around, dancing around, going outside, I know its weird. But, I always saw it as getting my body back to it’s normal self. It has always worked for me, maybe it’ll work for you. Try drinking Coke, that helps me too.

Answer by Gabriel
The common cold is caused by a virus.

Until today, there is no known cure for this common cold. The common cold will go away by itself. Give yourself one to two weeks, it will subside on its own.

No amount of cough syrup, orange juice, or anything will get rid of it.

All you need to do is to rest well and drink lots of water to avoid dehydration.

And cover your mouth (with tissue or cloth) when you sneeze or cough. Don’t spread it to others.

The following works for sinus, cold, running nose, sore throat and strep throat, when the throat is hurting, All types of headache and lot of other conditions.

It works for all digestive problems as well. The digestive problems that it cures are – IBS, constipation, stomach cramps, GERD, Acid reflux etc. Due to restrictions on length of answer I am not giving the reasons for the same.

Logically it should cure asthma as well. But one has to be more cautious while trying this out for asthma cure. One may start with 12 hour water fast period. I do not have experience on this. But the logic on which hte theory is built up supports it.

The most visible thing about sinus is swelling. In case of cold, sore throat, strep throat also swelling is there but to some extent less then it is visible in sinus.

Sinus, cold and sore throat usually happen in the following situations -

- Change of season, drinking lot of water after exercises, when u get up in the morning, after swimming, after having first sex, kissing, first time smoking etc.

The reason – During winters our body stores less water. This is evident from loss of water from body evident from frequent urination. Normally the body adjusts the water stored in the body automatically. But due to drinking water with meals or shortly after meals, the systems responsible for controlling the water level in the body stops working properly.

The same thing happens when u get up in the morning – When one drinks lot of water with dinner and sleeps shortly after dinner the body tends to store lot of water. The same is not adjusted suitably when one gets up in the morning.

The same thing happens after swimming the body is heated up and cooled at the same time. It a person allows sweating after a swimming session and does not drink water or does not take a shower in cold water sore throat may not happen.

After having first sex, kissing, first time smoking people tend to either overeat, drink lot of water and sleep immediately so sinus.

Lot of people in their questions mentioned that they were advised about eating ice cream to get rid of the sinus or sore throat. Yes sudden eating of the ice cream may force the body’s system to get up and start working. But that happens only 10 to 20 percent cases. And if that does not happen the sore throat or sinus is aggrevated.

The easier way out is to allow body to sweat for 1 or 2 hour by increasing the body temperature but not drinking water or other fluids for may be 1 hour after that.

The other easy way to control swelling is to give up water and all other liquids for 24 hours. In 24 hours there will be no significant dehydration to cause organ failure. But to be double sure one can stay indoors for 24 hours. This helps in lot of other ailments. One can do it when one is in indoors and does not have a conditions. It improves the immune system. It ensures that body’s control systems work properly.

In 24 hours the reduction in the fluids will be about 3 litres or about 5% of the total body weight of a normal adult.

Never the swelling due to sinus or cold and cough is more than 5% of the body volume.

During this period of 24 hours the lose of water from the body does not reduce even by 1% to offset reduced water intake.

The reduction in loss of body water thru urine or sweating starts after 48 hours in most of people. But to be on safe side giving up water and liquids for 24 hours will do the trick.

The reduced swelling will give immediate relief from pain. It will make is much more easier to eliminate the cough thru nose without any pain.

That will also improve the blood acid levels by about 10%. This makes changes at the cell level as well. Blood acid levels are the first line of defense against the infections.

So swelling gone, pain gone, cough moving out, infections taken care of. Now what remains in the body for the next change of season time. Obviously nothing.

So it has already given u long term relief from sinus. But in some cases one may get sinus during next change of season and may have to do this again. The reason is during change of season the body must adjust the water that is stored in the body. Due to some cell level changes the ability of the body to bring those changes is lost. But after 2-3 seasons that ability of the body will be restored and there will be complete relief from sinus.

There is one more thing that will ensure that u never get sinus or cold again in your life.

Drink 1 glass of water 1 hour before each meal. No other water or liquids on 4-5 days in a week. So on these days you do not exceed 3 glasses of water in 24 hours.

On rest 2-3 days do whatever u feel like.

Answer by MrGoodliker1
Just take 1 or half tablet of SSRI and wait for an hour and feel healthy. This is what I told to many people and they felt well immediately.

One more thing
The quickest, fastest, best, big treatment of common cold is “no sleeping”.
Keep your body warm.

what kind of medicine can i take?
i am 28 weeks pregnant and i have a really bad cold or flu my throat hurts my nose is running and i have a bad cough, what can i take that is safe for me and the baby, it is to late to call my dr and i need to be able to sleep

Answer by Paramedic Girl
You can safely gargle with a teaspoon of salt in a glass of warm water for a couple of minutes. You can do this a few times throughout the day. You can also have some caffeine free tea with honey in it.

Try to prop yourself up a bit while sleeping or resting to help with the cough, or sleep on your side.

You can also call your local pharmacy and ask what you can safely take… they would best know next to your doctor. I wouldn’t recommend medications that other answerers may give you… they don’t know you or your unborn baby’s health.

Hope you feel better soon!

Answer by momof2js
just as Paramedic girl said, call a pharmacy. Even if yours isnt open, call another one. They have always been able to help me out. I hope you feel better.

will it hurt her mixing the 2 medicines
she was perscribed claritin by dr, but we gave her childrend caugh medicin

Answer by hamon rye
what does it say on the claritin box and cough medicine box? i’d call the 800 number on one of the boxes.

Answer by ladyalyays
Dress her up, and take her outside, away from the dog. If the cough subsides, then her allergy was acting up. Mixing those two would not be a good idea. Hun, you know you have to make a choice, if she’s living with you. The allergy is only going to get worse, and you do not want to see a baby having an asthma attack, trust me on that one. If she’s just visiting, then bar the dog out in the shed, or downstairs until she leaves, and vaccuum the place like crazy before she arrives. If not, one of these days, you’re going to have a bad situation on your hands if you don’t keep the two of them well apart.

Answer by city-girl
Not really recommended, but if the doc says, ok, then yes…don’t mix the medicines, wait 5 hours till you give her the claritin…

try to give her fresh air. she is allergic to the ‘dander’ (minute particles of the dog’s flesh which is in the hair), so that’s what’s making her cough. If you have a vaporiser it will help too, (minimize the dander in the air), but put her in an air-conditioned room with warm clothes on. (A room where the dog has not been in)

If her breathing is very laboured, get her to a hospital where they will give her oxygen.

I will pray for her.

My doctors always told me not to suppress a babies cough. That is the body’s way of getting rid of mucous. Maybe things have changed. I do give the robitussion or delsym if the cough is keeping them up at night.

DM cough medicine and pregnancy?

DM cough medicine and pregnancy?
My stepmother has been taking DM childrens dose cough medicine, her doctor recommended it to her. But my dad went to the store last night and was told by the cashier that there is an ingredient in it that teen age kids have been using to make a certain drug, and that my step mom should NOT be taking it while she is pregnant, because it can ruin the sack that the baby is surrounded by.
My dad asked if the man was a doctor and he said no, but that he used to work in a hospital. He told my dad that my stepmom should ask the doctor again if it is ok to use this.
She is also mixing antidepressents with it, which the bottle says you should not be doing, does anyone know if this could be a major problem?

I already have done research on the anti depressents and I have found that there have been a number of studies and they don’t seem to have any affects on the growing fetus.
I sould say that the cashier said that she should check with the doctor again because he (the doctor) doesn’t seem to know what he is talking about.

Answer by Rebekah
During my pregnancies, I was told NOT to take DM cough medicines, childrens or adults.

Call the doctor!

You ask, “Does anyone know . . . ?”

There can be only two possible answers to that question:

Somebody knows
Nobody knows.

Certainly there must be someone out there who knows.

So my answer is a resounding

But is that what you really were asking about?

Maybe you wished to determine HOW MANY people know?

Answer by JAMES A N
Go to the store and buy tylenol. Most home remedies will not work.

Answer by josy
tea vitamin c

Answer by tabby_black
For you cough try a hot tea such as ginger or peppermint with a lot of honey. The honey will sooth your throat and the ginger or peppermint will open your sinus.

You could also try to use a clean sock filled with with white rice, tie a knot at the opening, and microwave it to heat it. Approx a min for a tube sock. Place on your face and that can help your sinuses as well.

The sock also works for local soreness such as neck pain.

I need a better medicine for my pet allergies?
I’ve always loved dogs but began to have allegies to them about 5years ago. Im allergic to cats, dogs, rabbits etc..i recently found out about hypoallergenic dogs and i felt soo happy and got a baby maltese recently thinking i wasn’t going to get allergies but im still sneezing i’ve been taking “Claritin” (the generic brand) and i dont have all my usual symptoms which are itchy face, neck and eyes which is ok but im still sneezing like crazy and feeling stuffy. I dont want to give back my puppy i’ve just gotten him a week ago and i want to know if there’s something else out there to help me deal with my pet allergies.

p.s. im planning on keeping his hair as short as possible and vaccuuming more often also

Answer by scangineer
Claritin works well for me – but you may have to try a few types of meds to see what works for you. Also a humidifier and air cleaner with hepa filters work wonders. The humidifier especially because it keeps the dander down. And bathe the pets regularly.

I suggest a healthy diet.

Answer by Sara B
A lot of children, though they don’t have an allergy to milk, have greatly improved respiratory function avoiding milk. Substitute fortified soy or other beverages to make sure he/she gets enough calcium and feed him/her foods high in calcium. You will find your baby will have a lot fewer respiratory infections with the avoidance of milk products. Avoid the over-use of antibiotics in children. Ask your doctor about children’s vitamins and how soon you can start giving them.

Take care.

I’ve heard that you should rub a generous amount of Vicks vapo rub on the childs feet and then put socks over them. I’ve tried it with my son and it seemed to work but not 100% sure. Hey it’s worth a try huh? I’ve also used honey for his cough and it worked well. If your child is under 1 year NO HONEY.

Good luck! I know how hard it can be when your little ones sick! Hang in there!!

natural medicine against cold in toddlers ?
Hi everyone !

My three years old boy has running nose, sniffing and coughing since today morning. Many people told me to avoid medicines but he is fussy and refusing to eat.
He took “flu shot” two weeks ago and I fear it is a reaction from the shot.
I would like to give him something to help him to feel better and to stop nose congestion as well coughing. I fear he refuses to eat for all time he has this bad could.
Some advice please? thank you and I wish you all a wonderful Sunday !

Answer by blueland28
Here’s an old cold remedy my grandmother gave me when I caught a cold. Boil lemon peels and let it cool a little sweeten with a bit of honey. Make sure he is snuggled tight in his blankets. By tomorrow he will be feeling a bit better. Hope he gets well soon! :)

Answer by Gary Y
It would not be a reaction from the flu shot. The vaccine is not a live virus and you only may experience flu like symptoms for a day or so after the shot, which is the normal expected immune response.

It sounds like its just a cold, but if he has a high temperature and you can’t bring it down with infant’s formula analgesics then you should see a doctor.

Otherwise there are plenty of over the counter medicines that your pharmacist can offer to treat the symptoms. Don’t let him suffer unduly because of some silly anti-medicine belief. This is the 21st century.

Answer by leigh j
no to alarm you but it ‘could’ be a reaction to the shot. Remember a vaccine is a weakened or dead form of a virus. blueland28 remedy should help him make a full recovery in no time

Answer by dave
Beware of people who advise you to take something specifically, even though they haven’t seen your boy!

Make sure you see a doctor if you have ANY concerns about his health. They can advise you on the best course of action. Pharmacists can advise on suitable sympton relief for young children.

This is a very dangerous place to be asking advice for such a young child. There are many people here who will happily prescribe dangerous and scam remedies despite having no qualifications, training or knowledge.

This place is fine for a bit of fun, but your (and your child’s) health is something you can’t play with.
