Why am I coughing and wheezing?
I’m 35 weeks pregnant and have recently started coughing and wheezing. It only happens after smelling cigarette smoke residue off of my fiance or his father. I don’t let them smoke in the house because I want my baby to be healthy. I’ve never smoked in my life, but there have been people around me all my life who have smoked. I usually avoid it. Some people have rudely lit up a cig beside me while I’m outside, knowing that I’m pregnant. At that time I am forced to go back inside because I cannot stand the smell. I’ve tried to get my fiance to stop smoking but I can’t force him to.
I’m worried about the coughing and wheezing. It doesn’t seem like a normal pregnancy symptom. I’m worried that I might be developing asthma. Asthma seems to run in my family.
Any ideas on what it could be? Has anyone ever experienced this? Would it be possible to develop asthma from just the smell of it on someones skin, hair and clothes? I’ve always had allergies, but it’s never been this bad. I can’t sleep at night because of all the wheezing. I would appreciate any advice. Thank you.

it could most definatly be astma or it could be you getting anxious because there smoking around you when your pregnant anxiety can cause breathing problems it could also be a bad chest infection or more serious bronchitus you dont have to be a smoker i would deffo go and see your gp as anxiety can harm your baby so can passive smoke in fact everything that effects you whether it be physical or mental can potentiolaly harm your unborn child see your gp you need to rule astma and the other possibilities out hope this was useful for you cat xx
